To Be or Not to Be - In the Yellow Pages

It must be that time of the year again! Yellow Page renewal. My clients are asking if advertising in the Yellow Pages is a good expenditure of their market budget. Sadly my answer has been "I don't know"! Not because I can't commit to a decision; but because there is not enough information to make a decision. If you are considering Yellow Pages this article will help bust any myths that have been created by age old marketing tool called the Yellow Pages or Yellow Book and the other entire knock offs out there!

Because the Yellow Pages have been around so long, the myth is that you MUST advertise in them - doesn't everyone? This myth gets exaggerated by thinking the only way to win the Yellow Page war is with a full page ad. You have now just entered the $20,000 yellow page black hole!

Would you ever invest $20,000 without first knowing what the rate of return will be? Before taking the $20,000 plunge - know your facts. Start asking your new customers how they heard about you. Drill down a little to gain critical marketing data and then record those finding. Then when it's time to renew; you can print out a report that tells you that you received 5 new customers from your Yellow page ad with an average sale of $100. Unless you can get an ad for $50, you may just want to pass on Yellow Pages all together!

Other factors that need to be considered are:

Type of Business - If you are in a high relationship business like business services, Yellow Pages may not work the best for you. Your customer is more apt to research you on the internet to best determine if you are a good fit for them. Hard to do this on a Yellow Page static ad

Customer Profiles - Yes I said profiles! You need to segment your customers into buying profiles. For example if over 50% of your business comes from customers in their 20's - Yellow Pages may not work. This group is surfing, texting, IMing and blogging - they are not letting their fingers do the walking!

Sounds like I'm down on Yellow Page advertising. Not at all. It has its place and may be your best source of leads. You just need to examine all the facts and not hold on to the myths.

Free Money Making Opportunities on the Web

In auctions, the seller can specify what's known as a reserve price for an item. If the winning bid for that item is less than the reserve price, the seller can opt not to complete the transaction. Often, this technique is used by sellers who have a detailed understanding of how much the item would be worth if sold elsewhere, or who for whatever reason need to make a certain amount of money from the auction for free money making opportunities on the web. Generally, such sellers can be broken up into two categories: sellers who are simply looking to recoup a certain amount of the item's purchase cost and sellers who rely primarily on auction sales for their livelihood.

The first case often includes businesses that re-sell used items at a depreciated value. If the company uses good accounting practices, this value will be readily available. Otherwise, it will have to estimate the value by consulting with experts (some of whom it may already have on its staff) or comparing prices on similar items for free money making opportunities on the web. Typically, such sales aren't essential to the continuing health of the organization, so accepting a price slightly below the reserve value would likely not result in major harm. In low-priority situations such as this, a business must ask itself whether a reserve is really necessary for free money making opportunities on the web. Most auction venues will charge an additional fee to place a reserve on an item, which, depending on the expected sale price of the item, might be enough to cast the possibility of a satisfactory profit into doubt.

In the second case, though, reserve prices can reasonably be considered on the order of regular store prices: any offer below them will not result in a sale. As such, they need to be carefully calculated for free money making opportunities on the web. Too high, and auctions may result in too few sales and a bad reputation. Too low, and auctions may not generate enough profit to maintain the business. The desired profit margin will vary by business and by item, of course, and needs to be realistic for the market for free money making opportunities on the web. Equally, sellers should be aware of the relevant research, such as studies that indicate that using reserve pricing can have a feast-or-famine effect on profit depending on the estimated value of the goods being sold.* This research, while not conclusive, indicates that, even if relatively expensive goods benefit from reserves, relatively inexpensive ones can actually lose value if a reserve is employed. Ultimately, a business should remember that its bottom line is profit: even if all the theories say that using a reserve will help, if reserve-priced goods consistently under perform, the right answer is to abandon them, and vice versa.

Online reputation

After you have brought people to your page to look at the sports memorabilia you are trying to sell, it is important to entice them to bid. One of the most important factors is by creating and maintaining a positive online reputation. Buyers will be less likely to bid on your merchandise if the feedback left about you is not good. But overall, creating a positive response about your online auction business is not difficult to do and is very similar to the same good business practices people practice in regular storefronts. Along with being honest and descriptive about what you are selling online, it is important to answer all questions posed to you by potential bidders and be forthright about your product. When it comes to shipping the item, pack it appropriately in the correct box and send it out just as you described on your site or if you have made alternative arrangements with the winning bidder.

Title: Body Massage for Relaxation, Health Improvement and Sensual Pleasure

By massaging your friend or living partner and let him or her do the same to you, you will both get emotionally closer to each other, and both get several health benefits. Massaging will benefit the mental state of the person you work on, the muscular condition, the blood circulation and the lymph drainage. However, what you want to achieve, will determine the exact technique you use.

MASSAGING ACROSS THE MUSCLE FIBRES

This type of massage is very good for relaxing tense muscles and a stressed mind.

You perform this massage by rubbing or gripping across the direction of the muscle fibres or across tendons. You take one area after the other. You begin by massaging each area lightly, superficially and slowly to warm up, and then proceed by massaging deeper, firmer and more swiftly.

According to the size and conditions of the area you treat, you can use different types of manipulation. You can use a couple of fingers at a small area, or to reach deep into a tense point You can rub with all your finger tips or with the palm of your hand at greater areas. To get a harder effect, you can use your finger knuckles.

MASSAGING ALONG THE MUSCLE FIBRES

This type of massage will give the following effects: Stiffness will be reduced or cured, and the muscles will gain in mobility. The muscles will get better blood supply and drainage. The muscles will get a better drainage of tissue fluids into the lymph system, and thereby swollen muscles will normalize. These effects will in turn make tired muscles faster regain good condition.

By this massage you stroke along the direction of the muscle fibres, and always in the direction of the blood stream towards the heart.

Also now you take one area after the other, but try to reach the whole length of a muscle or muscle group at each stroke. Also by this massage, you begin massaging at each area lightly, superficially and slowly to warm up, and then proceed by massaging deeper, firmer and somewhat faster.

Also by this longitudinal massage, you can press down and stroke with your finger tips, with all your fingers, or grip around a muscle or muscle group with your fingers.

MASSAGE WITH AN ELECTRIC DEVICE

Most electric massage devices are vibrating up and down. This vibration mostly gives the same effect as the massage across the muscle fibres. If you also stroke with the device head along the muscle in the direction of the blood stream towards the heart, you will simultaneously also achieve the effects of longitudinal massage.

COMBINING THE MASSAGE WITH STRETCHING

The effects of the massage can be increased by also stretching the limbs and body parts of the person you work on. Stretch in the natural movement directions of the limb or body parts until you reach some resistance. Do not stretch hard to go beyond the resistance point. However, by holding the limb some time at the resistance point will often cause the limb to relax, and then you can go some way further.

HOW HARD SHOULD YOU PERFROM THE MASSAGE?

Tired and stiff muscles are often tender and aching. Working at a tender point will always cause some temporal pain. However, if you use the right degree of firmness, the effect of the massage should cause an immediate release of pain and tenderness when you have finished working at a point. You should never work so hard that the pain is felt nearly unbearable, or so hard that pain remains after the massage is finished. If you do so, you can hurt or aggravate already existing tissue damage.

To achieve the right firmness you should monitor the reactions of the person you work at and listen to his comments. You should also never perform a massage on an area with a distinct inflammation or a distinct injury.

USE OF MASSAGE OILS

By applying a massage oil or ointment at the area you work at, you ease the massage work and increase the effects of the massage. Your fingers glide more easily upon the skin covering the area. The blood supply of the skin and muscles will be stimulated. You get a sensual and exciting scent on the area and in the air. Ingredients in the oil will ameliorate muscular ache and pain. According to the composition of the massage oil, there will be different stimulating effects upon the muscles, for example faster regeneration of tired or hurt muscle tissue.

MASSAGE FOR MUTUAL PLEASURE

You can use each of the two main techniques, but you let the pleasure of the person you massage decide the technique, the area you massage and the firmness of the massage. Usually gently touching and caressing will be the right manner.

Also your own pleasure shall decide. Do not work so hard that you get tired out yourself, and the person that you give the massage should be willing to repay you by doing the same favour to you.

BTE HEARING AIDS

Behind the ear, also known as BTE, hearing aids are far and away the most commonly used type of hearing aid. These hearing aids are also what most people picture when hearing aids are mentioned. The electronics which make a BTE hearing aid function are housed in a plastic case which fits behind the ear and has a tube that connects it to an ear mold which fits in the ear canal.

They are designed to accommodate the entire spectrum of hearing losses, from the mild to the severe. Although they are more conspicuous then hearing aids that fit entirely in the ear canal, they have a number of benefits that appeal to a wide variety of hearing impaired individuals. In addition, BTE hearing aids come in a number of sizes, shapes and colors. So some behind the ear models are much less conspicuous then others.

Since behind the ear hearing aids are larger then their completely in the canal, or CIC, counterparts, they can more easily house a bigger amplifier and much stronger battery and therefore may be especially beneficial to individuals with a more severe hearing loss. BTE hearing aids are also rather versatile in that they come in the most traditional analog style as well as in the recently popularized digitally powered style of hearing aids.

When budgetary constraints are an issue, behind the ear devices definitely win out over hearing aids which fit completely in the ear canal. Due to their larger size, other groups of people to whom BTE hearing aids have more appeal then CIC models include the elderly, arthritis sufferers and others with fine motor control disabilities and related issues.

Finally since CIC models necessitate the wearing of a heavier device in the canal then just the lightweight ear mold attached to BTE hearing aids, there tends to be less ear canal irritation with the former.

In the late 1800s the first commercially manufactured hearing aids were patented and became available to the public. The first behind the ear hearing aids came on the scene over fifty years ago.

Prior to this, hearing aids were basically amplifiers worn somewhere on the body and these were heavy and expensive, due in part to rapid battery consumption. With the advent of the smaller junction transistor in 1952, widespread BTE hearing aid use became more of a reality.

Due to improvements in the technology of circuitry,1964 saw another boom in use of BTE devices and the use of body worn hearing aids dropped to less then twenty percent. By 1972 prototypes for hearing aids which could be programmed to a variety of listening situations, were being created. The following twenty years showed continued improvements and advances in hearing aid technology.

Volume controls were added to most behind the ear devices in the 1990s and digital hearing aids started appearing in the mid nineties. There has been continued new arrivals in the hearing aid world since then such as remanufactured hearing aids, disposable hearing aids and over the counter hearing aids. Who knows what the future of behind the ear hearing aid technology holds, the possibilities are endless

Don't Double Up on Your Auto Insurance

Have you ever noticed that it seems like today's auto insurance companies seem to offer everything but auto insurance? Life insurance, medical insurance, rental insurance, emergency roadside assistance...you name it, they've got it. And when it all looks shiny and new it's very, very tempting to sign on the dotted line just because you can.

Bragging rights aside, though, you don't really need eighteen times the insurance coverage that your neighbor has. Signing up for every additional gadget, gizmo and bonus your auto insurance provider has to offer might sound like a good idea at the time, but you're almost inevitably going to end up paying way too much each month for insurance coverage you don't really need.

1) Medical Coverage

With the ridiculous cost of care among the medical community today there's no doubt that medical insurance is a must. The average emergency room visit after an automobile accident can cost upward of $3,000 by the time you're done tallying the bills from radiology, phlebotomy and the lab, the pharmacy and the doctor in charge of your care. The last thing you want to have to do after an accident is worry about how you're going to pay for your treatment.
If you already have insurance, however, additional medical coverage is extraneous and unnecessary. Your regular insurance will pay for the same level of care, and since you're already paying for it each month you can put that money back into your monthly budget.

2) Emergency Roadside Assistance

Okay, being stuck on the side of the road in the middle of a winter blizzard is no fun, and knowing that you have someone on hand ready and willing to help you at a moment's notice is very reassuring. There are numerous other roadside assistance programs out there that offer you the same benefits as an insurance provider, however, and most of them come with cool discounts of their own.

3) Car Rental Insurance

If you're going to add any extras onto your auto insurance policy, consider making car rental insurance one of them. There's nothing quite as unpleasant as breaking down three states away from home, where you can't call anyone close to you to come rescue you, and not having a way to get home because you can't afford the sometimes exorbitant rates charged by most rental agencies.

The bottom line is that while some of the benefits that come hand in hand with your auto insurance policy are nice to have, nothing's more important than making sure you get the best auto insurance coverage possible for the lowest premium available. By not doubling up on your insurance coverage you can put hundreds of dollars back in your budget every year and put your money to more creative uses than paying for your auto insurance-like traveling someplace where you can put that car rental coverage to good use!

List Building and a Profitable Opt-In List!

In building your keyword list, you want to "get into your customer's head". Therefore, you have to approach building a list with a tool like Desktop Lightning as a long-term process. Do you want to find out how the affiliate marketer mentioned above, started building an email list and stopped losing money? This site consists of a landing page to collect email addresses, a package of products that teach about building an email list, and a few pages with articles I've written about building an email list.

Building a profitable opt-in list does not just happen overnight. Building a mailing list for your niche market is a painstaking and time consuming process. BUT, if you want to start building a list quickly, here's one technique that works. Find one or two in the areas of Internet Marketing you need help with: SEO, Mini Sites, Affiliate Marketing, List Building, Google AdSense/AdWords, Copy Writing, etc.

You'll save time and money by building a prioritized list of those reasons, understanding must-haves and trade-offs, and using that list to spec, evaluate, plan and build a VMS solution tailored to your business. Building a mail list manually is not easy, it can be done, but you have to work at it everyday, adding names - addresses - phone- numbers etc, it is a lot of hard work, and it was just a pain to keep up to date, and then if you wanted to do a promotion it meant preparing a sales letter, then getting it printed, stuffing the sales letter into envelopes, paying for the postage, phew, it was a huge amount of work.

Building a list gives you opportunities to sell to the same customers over and over again. Start building your optin email list in an area in which you have some knowledge. If you're a smart article marketer, you don't consider your list building and article marketing project complete until you have thanked key online editors, and invited them to discuss other marketing opportunities.

Generating traffic, nor building an Opt-In list, nor is it finding products to market and it's not a lack of Cash. JV Your List-Building: Small List - Ok, if your existing list isn't large enough to warrant a cross JV mailing as described above, here's a clever way to build your list up quickly. Your list is vital to building your business. The well known guru Mark Joyner has been known to sit back for7 to 9 months, building his list and cautiously targeting his audience, giving away freebies and bonuses.

Consider the double opt--in method you are in the early stages of building your list or want to increase to your existing list. Not only does building a website give you the opportunity to build a list, set you apart from your competitors and allow you to offer more value to your visitors, but it also (and very importantly) gives you the option (which you should take advantage of - by the way) of marketing more than just one affiliate product/program. There are many nuances and very effective initiatives that could be added to this list, as well, but these provide a good starting point for building stronger results. When you click through to the webpage you will see that I am building a list.
